Medical Communications

SOS is a commercial-side medical affairs department specializing in providing scientific expertise to the medical community. SOS is a leading provider in outsourced Medical Communications services and supports its clients in three distinct areas: Call Center, Medical Information/Pharmacovigilance & Medical Services.

Call Center

The SOS call center acts as an intake center for drug inquiries. It is staffed with non-health care professionals who provide non-medical product information and customer service assistance in a seamless manner to all SOS clients. The call center is also trained to identify and appropriately triage all medically-related inquiries, including drug safety/product complaint calls, to the Medical Information department, staffed by healthcare professionals.

Medical Information/Pharmacovigilance

SOS’ team of trained healthcare professionals is adept at handling medical inquiries, including reporting of adverse events and product complaints. The Medical Information team crafts standard responses and FAQ documents and, based upon client standard operating procedures (SOPs), disseminates this literature upon request.  Medical Information Specialists can create and update standard responses and SOPs as well as identify new topics and develop customized responses. Specific to SOS’ pharmacovigilance services, SOS can provide initial adverse event and product complaint support or, if preferred by the client, provide additional activities such as follow-up physician and patient contacts and preparation of annual reports.  All adverse events and product complaints, regardless of serious or non-serious classification, are submitted to clients in a timely manner. Expedited reports are submitted within one business day.

SOS maintains a comprehensive, detailed database and incorporates all call details into this database, seamlessly operating as the company’s Medical Affairs Department.

Medical Services

SOS can also provide its clients with project support including medical writing, medical meeting support and field training services. Medical writing may include abstract, poster, and SOP development, whereas medical meeting support encompasses utilizing one or more of SOS’ healthcare professionals on a per diem basis supporting activities such as conference booth activity, managed care/formulary presentations or field training.
